Testing the Soph x Revolution Eyeshadow Palette!

If you'd told me 5 years ago that I would one day be so interested in make-up that I'd spend what little money I have left of my student loan on new products, I wouldn't have believed you. And if you'd told me I'd also be able to do a cut-crease, I would have wondered if that was a type of karate move. So, while I'm still no makeup expert, I would say that I am now most definitely a makeup lover and am eagerly hopping aboard the bandwagon with lots of new trends and products (where my funds allow).

I recently started looking for a new eyeshadow palette after being a little disappointed with my Morphe 35F 'Fall Into Frost' palette as I was struggling to create eyeshadow looks with most of the colours in there. I'd seen a number of Youtubers rave about the eyeshadow palette that Sophie from SophDoesNails had brought out in collaboration with Makeup Revolution - a drugstore brand that I already have big love for - and as it only costs £10 I decided to try it out.

The palette contains 24 eyeshadows (14 matte and 10 shimmers) and promises to provide all the colours necessary for a number of different looks, from casual daytime to evening full glam. There are a whole range of colours from nude transition shades to pops of blue and bright purple but one of the main reasons I was drawn to the palette initially was for all its red, orange and brown-toned shades which I've found compliment my green eyes best.

I have to say, from the outset: I love this palette.

I love how pigmented and blendable the shadows are, I love the range of colours and I especially love all their names! Most Makeup Revolution palettes don't have names for each colour and I don't know what it is about me, but I just love applying makeup so much more when the products have cute or interesting names!

I created two eyeshadow looks for two different occasions using this palette and I was so impressed with the quality and colour payoff. Also I would like to state for the record that my skills with eyeshadow are incredibly limited and the blend-ability of the shadows in this palette are great at making it look like you're better at makeup than you actually are - yay!

The first look I created is one that I would do for a casual day when I'm out and about. I love peachy-toned shadows so 'Cloudberry' is the perfect shade for me, and I paired it with a simple, soft, smokey-eye using the matte, nude-toned shadows of the palette.

The second look I created is inspired by a Valentine's look that Sophie did over on her channel with the palette, and I used basically all of the red-toned shadows to create this cut-crease look (I can't believe it actually worked!) with the shade Pink Champagne across the inner half of the lid. I'd wear this look for a night out paired with some fabulous lashes and a pink lip and I love how it turned out!

There's such a great range of colours in this palette and I already know I'm going to get so much use out of it. Plus it's perfect for travel as it's more compact than my Morphe palette and has a huge mirror inside. The only complaint that I'd have (and it's a very small one) is that some of the shimmer shades feel as if they need to be swatched a couple of times before they show up as vividly as you'd imagine.

My favourite shades are Cuppa Tea, Cloudberry and Strawberry Sweets, and I'd really love to make Petrol or Pine Tree work in a future makeup look! I'm honestly so impressed with so many aspects of this palette, if you have a spare tenner I'd highly recommend spending it on this - you won't regret it and will make you feel like a super competent human being that can actually achieve crazy eyeshadow looks! (Maybe)

What do you think of this palette? Which colour do you like the look of?

Stay inspired!
